Your guide from Blue Mountains Private Safaris will pick you up from your hotel in Sydney at 8.30 for the drive out through Sydney's south-western suburbs.
Stop en route at Wirrimbirra Sanctuary, with the chance to view some native wildlife up close, including emus, dingos and a variety of birds including parrots, galahs, kookaburras and the uniquely Australian frogmouth owls. Continue on to one of Australia's oldest and most charming country towns, Berrima, which retains most of its early 19th century convict and colonial architecture including the old hail and courthouse.
After a morning of travelling it is time to take a bush walk in search of koalas and lyrebirds amidst the eucalypt trees before stopping off at Joadja Vineyard, a small boutique family operated winery to taste some of the region's cool climate wines. From Joadja your guide will head west into some of Australia's most spectacular wilderness scenery. Your drive takes you into the Nattai National Park which offers amazing views north over the Blue Mountains National Park and a chance to take in the breadth and beauty of the wilderness on Sydney's doorstep.
Enjoy a BBQ lunch and a bottle of wine in quiet seclusion on a private property on the banks of the Wollondilly River. The river offers a good chance of spotting one of Australia's more elusive mammals, the platypus, often up close from kayaks while paddling a gentle lagoon. In the afternoon enjoy a short bush walk with the chance of seeing a goanna, grey kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas before returning by car to the higher ground to possibly spot a wombat as they come out to feed in the late afternoon. Enjoy an evening sundowner drink before returning to Sydney.
