Day 1 - Exclusive day trip in the Blue Mountains, 1 night at Wolgan Valley Resort
For many years after the arrival of the first fleet in 1788, the mountains immediately to the west and southwest of Sydney proved to be an impenetrable barrier to the first European settlers. Today much of the land is still a natural wilderness and the ideal place for nature enthusiasts wishing to experience some of the finest bush country in Australia. The valleys of the Blue Mountains harbour an extraordinary variety of wildlife in immense numbers. With an experienced guide and patience, you may be rewarded with sightings of Grey kangaroos, wombats and the shy platypus.
Travel by private limousine to Bankstown Airport to meet up with your pilot from Hughes Helicopters. A 45 minute flight takes you over Sydney's western suburbs and into the wilderness of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and beyond. The valleys and sheer sandstone escarpments of the mountains have been sculptured bu millions of years of erosion leaving some of the most spectacular wilderness scenery anywhere in Australia. Your pilot will leave behind the more touristed areas of the central mountains and land in a remote valley on the Wollondilly River – here you meet your local wilderness guide, Mark Tickner.
As this is an exclusive experience, Mark will tailor the day to suit your interests, however, for wildlife enthusiasts, the regions offers the chance to spot kangaroos, echidnas, goannas as well as a multitude of birds on foot, while a gentle paddle by kayak offers the rare opportunity to get up close with one of Australia's most elusive mammals, the platypus. For the less active, the camp offers a spot of fly-fishing or just a wonderfully pleasant afternoon listening to the sounds of the bush over a bottle of Australian wine.

Late this afternoon your pilot will fly you on to Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa.
Your stay at Wolgan Valley includes accommodation in a Heritage Suite, gourmet breakfast, lunch & 3-course dinner daily, non-alcoholic beverage, a selected range of regional wines and beer with meals, and two on-site nature based activities per person per day
