One of our local residents enjoying a 'spa treatment' - buffalo style!
Bamurru Plains is located on a 600 sq kilometre working buffalo station on the Mary River floodplains. The water buffalo live in and around the floodplain system and are often found wandering near the main lodge area.
Their only natural predator in Australia are large adult saltwater crocodiles with whom they share the billabongs and floodplains. It's no wonder this buffalo wants to toughen its hide with a mud bath!
