The staff at Sal Salis have been enjoying the abundance of wildlife; especially listening to all the bird calls and spotting the Euros and Western Black Footed Rock Wallabies. Early mornings bring in the amazing bird call of the Pied Butcher Bird. This bird has one of the most beautiful bird calls throughout the region.
Guests have also enjoyed walking through the Yardie Creek Gorge and the Mandu Mandu Gorge. They had a great sighting of the endangered Black Footed Rock Wallabies, sighting three hopping up and down the gorge walls and eating the Rock Figs. They even spotted a mother Wallaby with a joey in the pouch ! This is great because it shows that this species is slowly getting its numbers back.

Guests have spotted the resident Sand Monitor, which we have named Larry. He likes to hang around the lodge.
Ospreys have also been spotted in the Mandu Mandu gorge and diving spectacularly into the sea, hunting for fish.
